Do i need wedding insurance?
Do I need wedding insurance?
Well in my opinion yes. Your wedding is such a romantic occasion and there is always so much to plan for the day and the last thing people want to think about is what happens if any problems arise, but of coarse sometimes they do. Be it your perfect dress, your beautiful venue or your stunning wedding car everything costs money and your average wedding in the uk now costs a staggering £18,500 it really is a major financial commitment and who can afford to risk that. I have heard of hotels canceling last minute, caterers being stuck by floods and in the current economic climate wedding shops going bust before dresses are finished.
If the worst happened most couples would find it hard to cover all the cost of canceling the wedding and paying for it all over again at a later date and without insurance would be powerless to recover all of the costs already paid out. For this reason I truly believe wedding insurance should be as much of a priority as the dress.
So what is covered on wedding insurance? As with all insurance this all depends on the policy and level of cover you choose, there are policy’s are there for as little as £15 up to £300 plus all of which will give a range of cover for different amount and different things. The minimal cover you will need of coarse depends on the budget of you wedding but most policy’s will cover at least, cancelation of your wedding/reception, Damage to wedding dress or suit, Failure of Suppliers Wedding Rings, Flowers, Attendant’s Gifts, Cake. The top 5 claims for insurance company’s are said to be, Damage to the wedding dress, jeweler or outfit Cancellation, Problems with the venue, Problems with suppliers, such as caterers and cars and damage to photographs so make sure these are covered to a value that match’s what you are planning to spend.

Read everything carefully and shop around and your insurance could be the best thing you buy for your wedding. So why wouldn’t you purchase wedding insurance? I would say the most common reason is simply that it slips most peoples minds. With everything to plan people don’t even imagine (or maybe they don’t want to imagine) that anything could go wrong. Often people belive that there contracts cover them for any problem that could arise or maybe they simply have a it will never happen to us attitude. As with many things in life its better to be safe than sorry
